Modifieds & More Under The Lights Showcase 2006 Rolling Wheels Schedule Rolling Wheels Raceway has followed a specials-only format for nearly a quarter-century. Maybe the most special event during the 2006 season will be the 200-lap Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRT Series showdown in autumn which is scheduled to be contested under the lights. Gates will swing open for the first time on Wed., May 3 as a special 'Open House' practice session for all divisions has been scheduled. The 2006 race season official begins on May 7 as the 38th consecutive season of auto racing at Rolling Wheels will be filled with nine race dates featuring a variety of both open-wheel and full-fender divisions. Along with traditional big-block DIRT Modified events, the World of Outlaws® Sprint Car Series will venture to the popular Elbridge oval for its annual visit en route to crowning its national champion. "Rolling Wheels is known for offering its fans one of the most diverse schedules and this season continues the trend," said DIRT MotorSports™ NorthEast General Manager Tonya Moschell. "We're hoping to attract as many different race fans as possible with a wide assortment of cars to satisfy their tastes. Big-block Modifieds remain the core division around here yet hopefully they can experience a new class and find still another interest on the short-track level." 2006 RWR Season Passes, including reserved stadium seats, are $170.00 each for adults, $155.00 each for senior citizens 60 and older, and $85.00 each for students (11-18 yrs.). Reserved parking spaces between turns one and two are also now being offered at $100.00 each for the season. The 2006 season-opener will be highlighted by the always anticipated DIRT Challenge Cup, with the 26th edition once again standing as the first Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRT Series race scheduled in the Empire State. Big-block teams will be chasing a pair of $3,000 top prizes in Rolling Wheels' headline Advance Auto Parts SDS twin 50-lap feature finale while the top area Sportsman and Street Stock entries will be contending in their own main events on Sunday afternoon. Action continues at the 'Fast Track' as the World of Outlaws Sprinters make their annual trek to Central New York on Tues., May 30, for the second straight Spring combining with the Patriot Sprint Group to create a true “Sprint Car Spectacular”. Tickets go on sale April 1 at DIRT NorthEast Headquarters in Weedsport, N.Y. The Advance Auto Parts Modified Super DIRT Series returns to action July 3 in the headline 35th Annual 'Firecracker' Championship, with a full DIRT Sportsman and Mod Lite program staged before the real fireworks go off. Empire Super Sprints arrive on July 23 in a rare summer appearance which includes a DIRT trifecta of big-block Modified, Sportsman and Street Stock action. Even though Cayuga County is idle that same Sunday evening, the Modified, Sportsman and Street Stock racers competing at the poplar Elbridge oval will still be chasing valuable points counting towards the respective season titles across town in Weedsport. The traditional 36th Robert N. Petrocci Memorial/Advance Auto Parts SDS race highlights the Labor Day Weekend at Rolling Wheels, with a Mr. DIRT Sportsman Series event and a complete program of Street Stock races filling the traditional Monday evening program. This year set to run on Friday and Saturday, the all-star World Series of DIRT Track Racing weekend, Sept. 22-23, will once more attract the finest Modified, 358-Modified, Sportsman and Pro Stock entries in Super DIRT Series competition. Another appearance by Street Stock teams on day one completes the two-day autumn classic with the Advance Auto Parts Modifieds expected to take the green flag and begin the double-century grind near sunset on Saturday. The Super DIRT Week Shootout in October at Rolling Wheels will once again lure big fields and attract standing-room-only crowds. The 100-lap Mr. DIRT 358-Modified Series special and a Mr. DIRT Sportsman Series event top the Oct. 6 card while the 25-lap ESS/URC/Patriot Challenge for winged sprinters completes the Oct. 7 program.
